Our Business Support & Facilities team are currently looking for a Cleaning Assistant to join the team at our Sydney – Hills location. This role will be responsible for ensuring that the campus facilities are presented in a well-maintained manner for everyday use. This involves the outworking of practical cleaning and maintenance tasks, as well as the building and leading teams of volunteers to achieve these outcomes.

Other aspects of this role include:

CLEANLINESS OF FACILITIES

• Ensure all campus facilities are thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis in line with established cleaning checklists.
• Tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Rubbish removal and bin liner replacement
• Vacuuming and mopping of floors
• Cleaning of bathrooms, kitchens, and high-touch surfaces
• Window and glass cleaning
• Replenishment of hygiene and cleaning supplies
• Set-up and pack-down of equipment as required
• Proactively maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all areas of the venue at all times.

CHURCH SERVICES & EVENTS

• Ensure campus facilities are fully prepared, clean, and presented with excellence for all weekend services and major church events.
• Support set-up, pack-down, and reset of spaces to meet functional and aesthetic requirements for services.
• Transition facilities back to their weekday configuration promptly after weekend services or special events.

GENERAL CAMPUS SUPPORT

• Provide practical support for the daily operation of the campus as directed by your oversight.
• Assist with minor repairs, room reconfigurations, furniture or equipment movement, deliveries, and general maintenance tasks.
• Respond to ad hoc campus needs that contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the facility.

TEAM

• Build and train a team of volunteers to assist with maintaining venue cleanliness and readiness.
• Provide supervision, encouragement, and feedback to volunteers to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Foster a culture of ownership and excellence among the volunteer team.

ADHERENCE TO WH&S GUIDELINES

• Ensure all cleaning and maintenance activities are carried out in line with Work Health & Safety regulations and organizational guidelines.
• Practice safe manual handling and equipment usage at all times.
• Use and store cleaning chemicals appropriately, adhering to safety data sheet (SDS) instructions and safety signage.
• Report hazards, incidents, or safety concerns to your oversight promptly.

Ideally, the successful candidate will bring:

• Experience in facilities, cleaning, maintenance, or operations support roles preferred.
• Practical understanding of general cleaning techniques, safe chemical use, and manual handling procedures.
• Familiarity with Work Health & Safety (WH&S) principles and a commitment to safe working practices.
• Physically capable of performing manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Committed to excellence with an eye for detail
