  • Salary commencing at $85,114.740 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Band 5.

The Opportunity 

Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Café and Hospitality Supervisor to lead the daily operations of the Crown Street Stables Café and the Clocktower Centre Café. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality hospitality services within two vibrant community and performing arts venues. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient café operations, supporting a positive customer experience, and driving continuous improvement and growth across both sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of both café sites, ensuring efficient service delivery and a high-quality customer experience 
  • Manage café administration, including ordering, stock control, cash handling, banking and financial reconciliation 
  • Supervise and support café staff, including rostering, recruitment support and performance management 
  • Maintain compliance with Food Safety, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and Council policies 
  • Ensure cafés are clean, safe and welcoming environments for all visitors 
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, hirers and community members 
  • Coordinate and support promotional activities to increase visitation and revenue 
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operations and customer experience 

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in café or hospitality operations, including supervising staff in a customer-focused environment, along with strong leadership and team coordination skills. You will have sound knowledge of food safety, workplace health and safety requirements, and hospitality compliance, as well as experience in cash handling, stock control and financial processes. Your highly developed communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build effective relationships with customers, staff and stakeholders, while your organisational and administrative abilities will support efficient day-to-day operations. Experience contributing to service improvements and promotional activities will be highly regarded. A Food Safety Supervisor certificate is required, along with a Level 2 First Aid and Chief Fire Warden certification (or the ability to obtain).
