About the role
The Strathalan Community, a Baptistcare Residential Aged Care facility in Macleod, Victoria, is actively welcoming new residents and is offering Casual opportunities for Café – All-rounder (also known as Food Services Assistant). We are looking for dependable candidates who can work flexible hours.
As a Café – All Rounder, your primary role is to provide our residents, families, and staff with assistance in the delivery of meals across the residence and support for the home in line with service standards and the food Safety Program guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service - Deliver warm, friendly, attentive, and professional service by greeting customers, taking orders efficiently, managing enquiries or complaints, and ensuring every guest feels valued throughout their experience.

Food and Beverage Preparation - Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and beverages while assisting with light food preparation such as sandwiches, toasties, and salads, ensuring all items meet café standards for portion, presentation, and quality.

POS and Cash Handling - Accurately operate the point-of-sale system to process cash and EFTPOS payments, manage transactions efficiently, and maintain a clean and organise the area at all times.

Cleaning and Hygiene - Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across all front- and back-of-house areas by following food safety procedures, clearing tables, resetting dining spaces, and assisting with dishwashing as needed.

Stock and Inventory - Restock shelves, fridges, and displays, monitor use-by dates, report low stock or wastage promptly, and receive and store deliveries in line with food safety and stock rotation practices.

Teamwork and Communication - Work collaboratively with colleagues by communicating clearly with kitchen, barista, and front-of-house staff, supporting the team during busy periods, and contributing to smooth daily operations.

Compliance and Safety - Follow all workplace health and safety guidelines, comply with company policies and procedures, and actively participate in required training and staff meetings to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
About you
- A warm, compassionate, and reliable team member
- Ability to listen and understand our client's needs and requirements.
- Availability in work over 7-day roster.
- Relevant Industry Training – Food Handling and Hygiene Certificate
- Knowledge of Food Safely and HACCP compliance
- Coffee experience is a must.
- Previous experience in a café/restaurant environment.
- Must be able to operate POS systems.
