This role plays a vital part in supporting rehabilitation and reintegration through meaningful employment and training. You’ll deliver practical cleaning training within a secure prison environment, helping people build confidence, skills, and real pathways to employment after release. Working closely with the Industries and Vocational Training teams, you’ll balance coaching, supervision, and safety with care and respect. Every day, your work contributes to safer communities and better futures.
As a Vocational Trainer – Cleaner in the Industries team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
delivering and evaluating cleaning training programs for adult learners
supporting inmates to develop employable skills and positive work habits
supervising daily activities to meet safety, security, and production standards
managing tools, equipment, audits, and safe work practices
encouraging participation in training and purposeful work
reporting incidents and contributing to sentence management outcomes
You could be a great fit if you have:
Certificate III in Cleaning Operations with relevant hands-on experience
experience training, mentoring, or supporting adult learners
sound knowledge of WHS in a workshop or commercial environment
strong communication skills and a calm, respectful approach
cultural awareness and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain
