Description

At ShopGrok, we provide critical decision support to retail leaders through high-quality market insights and intelligence. We are scaling our operations and investing in the standardisation of our data products to ensure our insights are actionable, performant, and reliable.

We are seeking a Tableau Developer - Retail Analytics to take full ownership of our visualisation layer. This is a new, dedicated role designed to centralise our dashboard ecosystem. You will lead the transition to a more rigorous, version-controlled environment while evolving our core products into intuitive tools used by major retailers and global brands.

This role is a blend of Analytics Dashboard Design, Technical Development (Tableau Server, SQL, performance tuning), and Product Ownership (standardising variants and improving the user experience for 1,000+ enterprise users).

What you’ll do:

  • Analytics Design & Development: Design and build high-impact, "executive-ready" dashboards that translate complex retail datasets into clear decision-support tools.
  • Product Ownership: Serve as the guardian of the ShopGrok Tableau portfolio. Manage 3–5 core Customer Use Case Variants, ensuring we move toward a modular, scalable architecture.
  • Governance & Version Control: Implement and manage rigour around version control for Tableau workbooks and data sources to ensure a "single source of truth."
  • Server Administration & Migration: Oversee the Tableau Server environment, including site administration, user permissions (OAuth/service accounts), and scheduling. You will play a key role in managing our server infrastructure.
  • Performance Optimisation: Collaborate with the Data Platform and Data Operations team to optimise Snowflake data extracts, ensuring dashboards remain highly responsive for our global user base.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the bridge between technical engineers and the Customer Success team to translate client feedback into scalable product features and improvements.
  • Automation: Identify opportunities to automate monthly reporting metrics and usage tracking to improve internal efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Deep Tableau Expertise (3+ years): Proven track record of building complex, enterprise-grade dashboards. Mastery of LOD expressions, Parameter Actions, and advanced formatting is essential.
  • SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to write SQL (Snowflake preferred) to join, filter, and aggregate data for efficient visualisations.
  • Tableau Server Management: Experience in site administration and maintaining server health.
  • Version Control: Experience using Git or similar tools for Tableau workbooks.
  • Design Thinking: A strong eye for UX/UI—you understand how to present data so that it leads directly to a business decision.
  • Experience managing Tableau Server

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing Tableau Server in a Linux environment.
  • Background in Retail or FMCG analytics (pricing, promotions, and range architecture).
  • Experience in a SaaS environment with a heavy focus on scalability.

About you:

  • Product-Minded: You look for the most scalable way to solve a problem for 1,000+ users simultaneously, and drive a roadmap based on user priorities.
  • Rigorous: You thrive on order. You are excited about fixing messy folders and implementing strict naming conventions and documentation.
  • Performant: You take pride in optimising every extract and calculation to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Collaborative: You enjoy working in a fast-paced team where your work has a direct impact on client retention and the company’s long-term growth.
