Stabiliser Operative – Spray Seal & Stabilisation

Downer is seeking an experienced Stabiliser Operative to join our spray seal and stabilisation operations across Western Australia. Based out of Maddington, WA, this role is ideal for someone with strong on‑the‑ground experience in stabilisation works who takes pride in safe, high‑quality delivery and working as part of a committed crew.

About the Role

As a Stabiliser Operative, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering day‑to‑day stabilisation and spray seal activities across multiple projects. You will work closely with Supervisors, Foremen and crew members to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out stabilisation and spray seal works in accordance with project specifications and work instructions
• Operating stabilisation and associated plant and equipment safely and effectively
• Assisting with site preparation, set‑up and pack‑down activities
• Monitoring material application, quality and consistency during works
• Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents or defects
• Working collaboratively with crew members to achieve daily production targets
• Actively contributing to Zero Harm initiatives and safe work practices on site

About You

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in road stabilisation, spray seal or broader surfacing operations
• Competency operating stabilisation plant and associated equipment
• Strong understanding of safe work practices in civil construction environments
• Ability to work across multiple sites and adapt to changing conditions
• A positive, reliable attitude and strong team‑focused approach
• Commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement
• Relevant tickets, licences or civil construction qualifications (desirable)
