A well-established and growing corporate catering and events company is seeking a motivated Sous Chef to join its high-performing kitchen team in Sydney CBD. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef, or experienced Sous Chef looking to develop their leadership skills within a structured, professional, and fast-paced environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work with premium corporate clients while enjoying a stable Monday to Friday roster, providing an excellent work-life balance rarely found in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of a busy commercial catering kitchen.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented to consistently high quality standards.
  • Supervise, motivate, and support the kitchen team throughout production and service.
  • Coordinate kitchen workflows to ensure efficient preparation and timely delivery.
  • Monitor labour productivity, kitchen performance, and food cost controls.
  • Minimise food waste and maintain accurate stock management.
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with management to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency.
About You
  • Previous experience as a Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef, or Sous Chef.
  • Experience working in high-volume commercial kitchens, catering, hotels, or events.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management.
  • Passionate about maintaining quality while driving operational excellence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and lead by example.
  • Sound understanding of food safety standards and kitchen operations.
  • Must have unrestricted Australian working rights (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen). Applicants requiring visa sponsorship or with work restrictions will not be considered.
