About us

UOW Pulse is a not for profit organisation that enhances campus life for students and staff through events, entertainment and experiences. We are a proud Child Safe Organisation and take the safety of children and young people that we employ, support and care for seriously, and have a zero tolerance for child abuse. We have strict guidelines, policies, procedures, processes and training in place to support our teams in interacting with and working alongside children and young people. The wellbeing of children and young people is at the forefront of what we do and the decisions we make. Hear what the children at Kids’ Uni have to say.

The role

Our team at Kids’ Uni South is seeking a passionate individual to team up with another cook in our on-site kitchen to craft high quality and nutritious meals that fuel young minds. This is a rewarding role, working family friendly hours - Monday to Friday from 7am to 2pm on a maximum term, part time basis for parental leave cover. You will receive all the training you need to shine in your role and grow your culinary skills.

We are working towards evolving the traditional service cook position into an integral part of our educational program, focusing on garden-to-plate experiences with children. You’ll be responsible for following allergy management plans to ensure the safety of the children, managing inventory, and placing weekly food orders. Enjoy working in a rewarding environment alongside a supportive team of passionate educators who share your love for food!

Benefits

We believe in taking care of our team just as much as we do the children. Here’s what we offer:

  • Generous leave entitlements including birthday leave, concessional leave and additional personal leave (pro-rata for part-time working arrangements).
  • 17.5% annual leave loading (paid pro rata based on 4 weeks of annual leave per year).
  • Salary packaging available, including the ability to salary sacrifice campus parking and a gold gym membership with UniActive for only $2 per week.

What you’ll need to apply

  • Strong passion for cooking and promoting children’s nutrition.

  • A keen interest in gardening would be advantageous.

  • Hold, or be willing to obtain a Certificate in Food Safety Supervisor.

  • Hold and maintain a Working with Children Check

  • Ability to plan varied and nutritional menus for young children.

  • Ability to cater for special dietary and cultural needs.

  • Ability to work within a budget.
