We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Casual Kitchen Attendant to join our busy kitchen team at The Cove Hotel in Patterson Lakes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment, supporting our chefs to deliver high-quality food and service while maintaining exceptional cleanliness and food safety standards.

The Cove Hotel is a premier dining and entertainment venue offering one of the most spectacular water views right on the marina in Patterson Lakes.

The bistro offers contemporary casual dining in a relaxed setting; catering to both the traditional indoor style seating, by the fireplace and an enclosed deck area capturing the view of the marina.

About Us

Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG) is the hospitality arm of the Melbourne Racing Club, managing a growing network of 16 pubs, clubs and hospitality venues across Victoria. Our venues include bistros, sports bars, function spaces and gaming areas, each focused on delivering great hospitality experiences within their local communities.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting with basic food preparation, including chopping, peeling and portioning ingredients
  • Washing, sanitising and organising kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness through daily and deep cleaning tasks
  • Supporting chefs with kitchen operations and following instructions from senior kitchen staff
  • Practising safe food handling and food preparation techniques
  • Managing rubbish disposal and maintaining a clean and organised work environment
  • Restocking fridges and ensuring kitchen supplies are readily available
  • Identifying and reporting any safety hazards or compliance concerns

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Previous experience in a large bistro, commercial kitchen, or high-volume hospitality environment advantageous
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Food Safely and Food Allergens Certificate, or willingness to obtain

This is a fast-paced, hands-on hospitality leadership role. It may involve standing for long periods, moving stock, lifting boxes or kegs, and navigating stairs throughout the venue.
