Job Description

Guzman Y Gomez is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Cook to join our team at our Mount Barker, Australia location. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality Mexican cuisine in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining our commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction. You will work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation that meets our quality standards and delights our customers.

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and plating standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workspace in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Manage multiple cooking stations and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency with company standards
  • Receive and respond to orders from the service team in a timely manner
  • Properly store and handle food ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness
  • Assist with inventory management and communicate supply needs to management
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and company procedures
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to support smooth service during peak hours
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a casual dining or fast-casual restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
  • Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen setting
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with kitchen staff
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Preferred experience with Mexican cuisine or Latin American cooking styles
  • Preferred knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems and kitchen management software
