PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE JOB
The Technical Lead is empowered to lead and manage a team of Application Technologists, a Flavourist and a Creation Assistant supporting the business segments of Beverage, Sweet & Dairy.
The Technical Lead – Oceania, as a key member of the Oceania Commercial Management Team and Regional Innovation Team, will be instrumental in building exceptional local technical skills, competencies, category management and best in class project management within the Oceania Innovation Centre. Driving innovation and technology and collaborating closely with the sales leads and their key account management teams will be imperative to achieving Sales and New Win Revenue ambitions.
The role responsibilities include best in class technical bench capabilitesas well as people management, coaching, training, and supporting a talented and diverse Technical team to achieve their objectives along with acting as a key cross functional contact for the resepective segments to the local, regional and global business.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
• Being able to transition seemsleey between bench work and people management as well as Lead and coach the diverse highly talkented Technical Bev, Sweet and Diary team. This is key to ensuring the team understands key priorities of the business, remain focused and motivated to collaborate and win.
• Develop segment strategy with Marketing and Commercial Team Leads and act as a technical lead for the sub- functional groups, in order to drive technical solutions excellence within the organisation, ac-cording to business objectives and within budget.
• Provide updates to senior management for all internal and external technical activities including the performance achieved against all objectives
• Set the segment strategy in partnership with the Marketing and Commercial Leads for the Oceania technical organization, align & recruit resources to support the overall business objectives and set the optimum structures and ways of working as required to meet the Oceania business sales and new win revenue targets
• As a core member of the Oceania Commercial Management Team, act as the segment technical contact in senior strategic forums and represent the segment technical function for key projects
• Lead and develop the technical teams through ongoing coaching and training to achieve optimal per-formance. Plan training and overseas sabbaticals for staff. Increase connectivity to the other regional innovation centers.
• Own the infolow screening, allocation and monitoring process for segment projects together with the sales teams to ensure best resources are assigned at all times. Develop processes for continuous im-provement.
• Guide and support the formulation and development of innovative new products to meet market and customer requirements in the Oceania sub region.
• Budget and plan for OPEX and CAPEX and ensure the labs are equipped to provide cutting edge support to customers.
• Represent the Oceania Business in Regional and Global forums, steering committees for major new initiatives, projects, innovation programs and forums where appropriate.
• Liaise with Givaudan colleagues in the Asia Pacific region and overseas, including the regional Inno-vation team and S+T. Collaborate closely with local and Regional Marketing on proactive new product concepts.
• Drive innovation and technology and provide senior level technical support to major customers when needed. Develop strong relationships at key customers to support sales activities.
• Maintain optimal operational safety and hygiene for the labs and also protection of the environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Knowledge
- University degree in Food Science and Technology or related subject
- Formal on-the-job training in food processing, design and formulation
- Excellent sense of smell and taste and driven by innovation
- Knowledge of general food & nutra applications and business
- Commercial acumen, preferably in B2B and/or B2C
- Computer skills and familiar with all major software used
Experience
- At least 8 years experience in a food and beverage related R&D field
- At least 2 years Leadership experience managing teams
- Broad technical food Application skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Comfortable working in a large matrix business
