About the Role
Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) is seeking a passionate Community Educator to join our Eight Mile Plains venue and deliver high-impact gambling harm-minimisation education and community engagement. This permanent part-time role (45 hours per fortnight) takes a public-health approach to raising awareness of gambling-related harm, strengthening community partnerships, and empowering individuals to make safer, healthier choices.
A typical day in this role is varied. The Community Educator will deliver presentations to industry, community groups, and schools, organise events, participate in information stalls, network across the community, develop educational resources, conduct agency and industry visits, and more.
Additionally, you will:
Deliver engaging community education initiatives that promote safe gambling practices.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups, government, and the gaming industry.
Develop and implement local Community Education and Engagement Plans aligned with RAQ’s statewide strategies.
Coordinate Safer Gambling Network (SGNET) meetings to strengthen collaboration and information sharing.
Collect and maintain accurate data and reporting in line with funding requirements.
About You
You are a confident communicator with a passion for community wellbeing and education. You bring creativity, initiative, and a strong understanding of harm minimisation and community development principles. You thrive on connecting with diverse audiences and turning awareness into action.
You will be a great fit if you:
Hold an undergraduate degree
Enjoy meeting and connecting with people
Have strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills
Are passionate about reducing gambling harm and supporting healthier communities
Can work collaboratively, including in partnership with industry
Have experience designing and delivering education or awareness programs.
Understand adult learning principles and community engagement strategies
Are confident in event organisation and digital communication tools
Have excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills
Please note: This is an education and engagement role. If you are seeking a counselling-focused position, this role is not suitable.
