The Opportunity
We’re looking for a PostGRES Database Administrator to support, manage and maintain database workloads for a client project. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively with development teams and solution architects, and who thrives in ensuring database environments are secure, performant and well-documented.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining database integrity, optimising performance, and supporting disaster recovery strategies, while contributing to schema design and query optimisation.
What You’ll Do
Database Administration & Performance
- Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database systems
- Monitor performance and implement tuning strategies using tools like EXPLAIN and ANALYZE
- Perform regular maintenance tasks including backups, indexing, and archiving
- Develop and implement recovery plans and disaster recovery strategies
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with client-side developers, solution architects, and team leads
- Assist in schema design and query optimisation
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner
- Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies
Security & Governance
- Implement role-based access controls, encryption, and auditing
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with security protocols
What You’ll Bring
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, and administration
- Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures and triggers
- Experience with backup and recovery tools (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, PITR)
- Knowledge of database security and schema design
- Familiarity with performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques
