About the Role

Italia Lane is seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to support kitchen operations and assist in preparing high-quality Italian dishes. The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared efficiently, consistently, and in line with the restaurant’s standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Italian dishes in accordance with menu requirements and kitchen standards;
  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, and presentation of meals;
  • Monitor food quality during preparation and service to ensure consistency and freshness;
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas;
  • Assist with stock rotation, ingredient storage, and inventory control;
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations;
  • Support kitchen operations during busy service periods in a fast-paced environment;
  • Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow;
  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries of food supplies and kitchen products;
  • Minimise food wastage through efficient preparation and storage practices;
  • Follow recipes, preparation methods, and cooking procedures as directed by senior kitchen staff;
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional kitchen environment.
About You
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role;
  • Relevant trade qualification in Commercial Cookery is desirable;
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine and cooking techniques is highly regarded;
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards;
  • Good communication and teamwork skills;
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain consistency in food preparation;
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure;
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Position: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $74,000 – $84,000 per annum
