We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Casual Commis Chef to join the team at The Coach in Ringwood. If you’re all about good food, good people and a bit of controlled chaos, we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll work with a solid kitchen team who know how to get the job done, back each other, and still have a laugh when things get hectic. From prep to pass, it’s hands-on, fast-paced and never boring.

The Coach is our newly renovated dining and entertainment complex located in the heart of Ringwood. From the moment you walk into the venue, the warmth and friendliness makes you already feel at home.

A modern new Bistro specialising in a family friendly environment, offering an extensive a la carte menu whilst delivering quality customer service, catering to all. Not to mention the relocation of the Sports Bar, with a dedicated menu and a newly developed alfresco area. Making it the perfect place to watch the game, or simply enjoy a beverage, relax and unwind.

About Us

Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG) is the hospitality arm of the Melbourne Racing Club, managing a growing network of 16 pubs, clubs and hospitality venues across Victoria. Our venues include bistros, sports bars, function spaces and gaming areas, each focused on delivering great hospitality experiences within their local communities.

What You’ll Be Doing In The Kitchen

  • Cooking and prepping menu items to our high-quality standards
  • Jumping in to support senior chefs with prep, plating and service when things get busy
  • Keeping food safety and hygiene locked in at all times (non-negotiable)
  • Running your section during service and keeping things moving on the pass
  • Keeping your station clean, organised and ready for the next wave of tickets

What We’re Looking For

  • Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience in the real world)
  • Food Allergens and Do Food Safely Certificate
  • Experience in a busy pub, bistro or high-volume kitchen
  • Solid understanding of basic cooking methods and how to execute a recipe properly
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays

A Role That Keeps You Moving

This is a fast-paced, hands-on hospitality leadership role. It may involve standing for long periods, moving stock, lifting boxes or kegs, and navigating stairs throughout the venue.

Why Join PLG?

  • Real opportunities to learn, develop and move your career forward
  • Access to year-round wellbeing support, including Employee Assistance Program for you and your family
  • Free onsite parking (because nobody likes circling the car park after a long shift)
  • Work with one of Victoria’s leading hospitality and entertainment groups
