At The Salvation Army Bendigo Church (Corps), the environment we provide directly supports the dignity, safety and wellbeing of the individuals and families who access our services. Maintaining clean, hygienic and welcoming spaces ensures our community programs, worship services and daily operations can continue to support people when they need it most. 

About the role 

As a Cleaner, this is your opportunity to play a vital behind the scenes role supporting the Church by ensuring all facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. You will contribute to a positive environment across multiple sites including community services, worship spaces and shared facilities used by staff, volunteers and the broader community. 

Reporting to the Church Leader, this is a Permanent Part -Time position, 15 hours per week, based onsite in Bendigo, Victoria

How you will make an impact 

You will make a meaningful difference by: 

  • Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of bathrooms, offices, common areas, vehicles and surrounding outdoor areas 
  • Following the Bendigo site cleaning schedule and completing all assigned cleaning tasks 
  • Safely handling, storing and using chemicals in line with MSDS and WHS requirements 
  • Ensuring cleaning supplies, containers and dispensers are replenished and fully functional 
  • Supporting a safe and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers and clients 

What you will bring 

You will ideally bring: 

  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in commercial or facility cleaning 
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) 
  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team 
  • Physical capacity to safely undertake cleaning duties 
  • Strong reliability, integrity and a proactive approach to workplace health and safety 
  • A willingness to complete required compliance training

Conditions 

Compensation is in accordance with the Miscellaneous Award, Level 2
