Chef – Busy Bees at Mermaid Waters

Busy Bees at Mermaid Waters is a 98-place service located in Mermaid Waters, QLD. We are looking for a passionate and organised Chef to join our Hive on a full-time basis. In this role, you will create nutritious, delicious meals that support the growth and development of children while maintaining high standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene.

As our Chef, you will play an important role in providing healthy meals and snacks that cater to children’s dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences in a warm and welcoming early learning environment.

About the Role

As the Chef at Busy Bees at Mermaid Waters, you will:

• Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks for children daily
• Plan menus in line with nutritional guidelines and seasonal availability
• Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and kitchen budgets
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and kitchen hygiene
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards and Busy Bees policies
• Cater for allergies, intolerances, and dietary requirements
• Work collaboratively with the Centre Leadership Team and educators
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and the wider team

What You’ll Need

• Previous experience working as a Chef or Cook, preferably in childcare, education, aged care, or hospitality
• Knowledge of safe food handling and allergy management
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Working with Children Check (QLD Blue Card) or willingness to obtain
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• A genuine passion for creating healthy meals for children
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Pay Rate

• $32.34 per hour
