Fiddlers Green is a warm, welcoming village set among beautifully maintained gardens in the heart of leafy Berwick. Our team is looking for a hands‑on Chef who thrives working independently, takes pride in presentation, and has real passion for food.
You will work in a relaxed, community‑focused environment with none of the late nights, high‑stress rushes, or commercial kitchen chaos. Instead, you’ll craft meals for residents who genuinely look forward to your cooking and love quality presentation, flavour, and variety.
Beyond the kitchen, Fiddlers Green offers a lively atmosphere with an active social calendar, wellness programs, and a wide range of leisure facilities. It’s a village full of life, connection, and great energy — the perfect backdrop for a Chef who enjoys meaningful work in a supportive setting.
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include;
Taking the lead in the kitchen, working independently each day: cooking, cleaning, preparation, service, and end‑of‑day close
Planning menus and ensuring excellent presentation and taste every day
Ordering stock, managing inventory and maintaining cost‑effective operations
Catering lunch and dinner services for 35–65 residents
Preparing our busiest themed days: Roast days, Fish & Chip Fridays
Ensuring compliance with food safety and EH&S standards
Engaging with residents for menu feedback and continual improvement
Meeting food cost and budget targets
Bringing passion, creativity, and pride to every plate
Shifts:
The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm. No weekend work!
About youYour proactive and customer-focused attitude and strong communication skills will be key to your success in this role, as will:
Having a relevant qualification in cookery or similar (a qualified Chef with apprenticeship or trade training will be highly regarded)
Demonstrated competence in a similar role
The ability to work autonomously to deliver professional outcomes
Having a passion for producing tasty, beautifully presented meals
Knowledge of dietary restrictions and the ability to adapt recipes to meet specific needs
Being committed to food safety & kitchen hygiene
Being highly organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
Being highly motivated and able to take initiative
Holding a level 2 First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
