Your role at St John of God Richmond
We are seeking applications for a Catering Services Assistant to join our Richmond Kitchen staff on a casual basis. Applicants must be available to work am & pm shifts from Monday to Sunday.
Participate as a team member across all areas of the Catering Department and contribute as required in the prompt and timely delivery of customer meals to patients, caregivers and visitors within the various areas of the Hospital.
Working as a Catering Assistant you will be primarily responsible for assisting the Chefs in the day to day running of the kitchen, preparing and serving food to patients, visitors and caregivers, and general cleaning & ordering of food/stick on a weekly basis.
This includes the preparation, production and service of customer meals, cleaning, general kitchen duties and movement of food stocks, ensuring the food service area is presented in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
The Position
Maintain correct food preparation in accordance with the catering department’s standards.
Assist with the preparation, plating, delivery of meals and snacks to patients and staff to various locations throughout the Hospital.
Prepare, maintain and assist with the provision of meals and snacks in the staff dining room.
Ensure all produce is washed, put away or prepared correctly.
Assist with dishwashing duties, including the washing up of large heavy-duty pots, pans and other kitchen utensils.
Assist with general kitchen hygiene maintenance including washing of walls, floors, refrigerators etc. in front and back of house areas as requested.
You will have a Certificate in Safe Food Handling or equivalent, an understanding of the NSW Health & Food Safety requirements, experience in food preparation and excellent communication & customer service skills.
Successful applicants will be well-presented and meet all hygiene requirements particularly with regards to infection control principles.

Hourly rate: $33.73 (Inclusive of casual loading) plus 12% Superannuation
