Your Role

Are you a skilled barista who is passionate about nourishing our community and providing warm, culturally welcoming hospitality?

MDAS is looking for a Barista / Catering Assistant to join our team in our Mildura office. 

In this multiskilled role, you will craft high quality coffee and beverages while assisting in the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for our community programs, events, and daily operations.

You will work as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team to ensure a clean, safe, and culturally respectful kitchen and café environment that keeps our Community well-fed and connected.

In this role you will 

  • Operate commercial espresso machinery to prepare and serve high-quality specialty coffee and beverages,
  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious meals and catering adjustments,
  • Support catering and beverage requirements for internal meetings, community events, and programs,
  • Maintain strict kitchen hygiene, barista station cleanliness, and food safety standards at all times,
  • Deliver friendly, respectful, and culturally appropriate hospitality to all community members and staff

This is a casual position with weekly rostered hours and is based at our Mildura office location.

About you

  • Proven experience working as a Barista (including espresso extraction, milk texturing, and machine maintenance) or a strong willingness to learn,
  • Experience in food preparation, commercial kitchens, catering, or a hospitality environment,
  • A strong understanding of food hygiene, safe food handling practices, and kitchen safety regulations,
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a warm, customer-focused approach,
  • A good understanding of cultural safety and the diverse needs of our community,
  • The ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment and work effectively as part of a team.
