Job Description

At Pastore, our modern Italian restaurant, guests enjoy a dining experience that blends Italian tradition with Melbourne creativity, where every dish tells a story and every detail reflects genuine care. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team. If you love creating high-quality dishes, working in a collaborative environment, and being part of a luxury hospitality setting, this role is for you.

What you will be doing

• Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to maintain Pastore’s high standards
• Support senior chefs in menu preparation, portion control, and inventory management
• Maintain exceptional hygiene, organisation, and cleanliness in your section and the kitchen
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service
• Learn from senior chefs and assist in training junior kitchen staff
• Contribute ideas and creativity to menu development and seasonal specials
• Ensure all health, safety, and food handling standards are followed
• Maintain consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail in all tasks

Qualifications

What we are looking for

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef, Commis, or similar role in a busy kitchen
• Passion for Italian cuisine and delivering dishes of exceptional quality
• Strong attention to detail, consistency, and presentation
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enthusiasm for learning from senior chefs and supporting junior team members
• Availability to work full-time hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
