Opening in early 2026, Heirloom is a coastal kitchen and dining space nestled within a stunning new retirement living community just south of Sydney. With sweeping waterfront views, a Mediterranean soul, and a deep love for shared stories and slow meals, Heirloom is where old traditions meet new memories—open to the public, but grounded in the lives of our residents, their families, and friends.

We’re on the lookout for a Cafe Shift Lead to join our founding team—someone who understands that great hospitality is about connection, care, and bringing heart to every table.

Your opportunity

-Role commencing early 2026

Based at our new Heirloom Restaurant at Taren Point, in a full-time capacity, you will lead café operations during your shifts, ensuring residents, visitors, and staff enjoy an exceptional, warm, and safe experience. You will oversee food quality, hygiene standards, customer service, and mentor the café team as we build a culture of excellence and care from day one.

With integrity, resilience, and a love for the seaside, you will:

  • Lead and support café team shifts to maintain high service and quality standards

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene protocols, and café procedures

  • Provide exceptional customer service, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere

  • Assist with rostering, stock management, cleaning schedules, and café equipment upkeep

  • Contribute to maintaining café budget and operational efficiency

  • Uphold organisational values and support continuous improvement of café operations

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in hospitality / café / food service leadership roles

  • Experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems

  • Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene procedures

  • A people-focused approach, especially engaging with older residents with respect, empathy, and professionalism

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team

Desirable but not essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality or food service

  • Experience in aged care or retirement living setting

  • Driver’s licence preferred
